Ryanair’s plans to attract business travellers have been furthered by the carrier’s launch of ‘Business Plus’ tickets.
The ticket allows passengers to change flights on the same day and even airports as long as it is in the same destination country for no extra fee. Normally, Ryanair demands as much as £90 for such a change.
The flexible ticket includes the free check-in of a bag of up to 20kg for the hold. On a standard fare, this can set passengers back up to £75.
Business ticket holders will get free priority boarding and a premium seat, such as one near the front or the emergency exits where there is greater leg room.
Of course, these services come at a price, and Business Plus flyers will have to pay more for their seats. Ryanair said ‘Business Plus’ fares will start at €69.99.
The services are free only at the time of booking and not after, warned Ryanair which urged people to fill in the forms correctly.
The carrier believes than more than 25% of its current passengers are already business travellers, but it wants to increase the percentage.
Meanwhile, the airline confirmed that it will put in a bid for Cyprus Airways, which is on the market. The bid deadline is Friday.
The Cypriot national airline is in the red, but authorities still anticipate as many as 15 proposals for its future.
Ryanair believes it can increase passenger numbers from 600,000 every year to three million.
