Oura bar stabbing, Cape Verdean charged

italianprisonCape Verdean national Valter Nunes has been arrested in connection with last week’s murder of António Guimarães, a bouncer at the Second Bar in Avenida Sá Carneiro, Oura, Albufeira at 02.55 in the monring.  

Nunes appeared in Albufeira court yesterday having been released from hospital after a week's recovery and later was remanded in custody.

Nunes has been accused of stabbing the bar’s security man in the chest as the two fought. A colleague of the victim was injured but was released from hospital later that morning.

A GNR patrol quickly was at bar in the notorious trouble spot but Guimarães died at the scene.

GNR officers arrested Nunes who was badly injured, and the two friends with whom he was drinking.

Nunes was taken to hospital where his facial injuries have ensured that he remained for the past week. On his discharge from hospital Nunes was promptly charged and whisked off to court.
