Portugal is once again among the top worldwide destinations recommended by Lonely planet for having an impressive quality:price ratio.
The latest edition of the iconic travel guide puts Portugal among the top 10 sites to visit in 2015 without trashing the budget.
The travel guide publisher highlights not only the Algarve, which "is no longer a surprise to regular visitors" but also Lisbon showing that Portugal has more to offer than "just a sunny seaside" holiday.
According to Lonely Planet, which placed Portugal an enviable 7th in the top 10, much of Lisbon’s price appeal is due to Ryanair using the capital as a hub, "Lisbon, as lively as Barcelona but with fewer crowds and cheaper, becomes much more accessible with the opening of the Ryanair base."
Lonely Planet attracts an affluent, educated and travel-mad audience and suggests that they visit other areas of Portugal outside the capital which are not part of the main tourist routes as here will be found cheaper prices.
