Suspected British murderer sought abroad

wantedPolice are hunting a British man who is believed to have been involved with the murder of another Briton in Spain last April.

Paul Scott, 32, from Liverpool, is wanted over the killing of 25-year-old Francis Brennan in Alicante, according to the UK’s National Crime Agency.

Scott is suspected of belonging to an organised crime gang based in Merseyside.

He is also wanted in connection with a plot to smuggle 40 tonnes of cocaine from South America into the UK by hiding it in tins of fish and wooden pallets.

In January of this year Brennan’s car was stopped in Alicante by several men who were posing as police officers. It was not until April that his body was found on a beach there.

The wanted man is thought to be in Europe and is known to have links to Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium and France.

“We are working closely with Merseyside police and the Spanish authorities to locate him but we need the help of the public too”, said Greg McKenna, NCA branch commander.

“If you have information on the whereabouts of Scott, no matter how small or trivial it seems, please contact the NCA or Crimestoppers anonymously.”

Anyone with information can call the NCA on 0370 496 7622 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

There is also a special freephone Spanish 900 555 111 telephone number, which will be answered in the UK by Crimestoppers’ call agents. A translation service is available.
