Alcoutim's Guadiana River Hotel up for sale

ALCOUTIMHOTELAlcoutim council has approved a plan to sell off its Guadiana River Hotel, and would-be owners have 60 days in which to check it out and put in an offer.

It does not take a genius to work that, with the pending approval for a 200-megawatt photovoltaic power plant to be installed on 800 hectares in nearby Martinlongo and Vaqueiros, this could be a good time to gear up for the estimated influx of construction workers.

The hotel is about a kilometre from the center of the Alcoutim on the banks of the Guadiana river with prime river views.

There are 32 double rooms on two floors, two swimming pools, a tennis court, terraces and green zones.

The hotel, built and owned by the coucil,  has a baseline sale price of €1.3 million.

"Taking into account the possibility of extending the existing building, its excellent landscaping, and the fact that there is shortage of hotels in the area, the council considers that there is market potential for the property," reads a statement from the council led by Osvaldo Gonçalves.

The next step for potential hoteliers is to read over the tender documents and the hotel specifications, all available from the Administrative and Financial Division of the council.
