Air passenger numbers using Gatwick have risen to 20.8 million from April to September of this year.
This hefty 4.4% increase over the same period last year has resulted in a boost to profits of nearly 19%.
Short-haul flights within Europe were behind the growth. EasyJet and Turkish Airlines increased their business services while a Norwegian airline launched 12 new routes from the airport.
Long-haul trips outside the US and Canada were also reported to be continuing to grow. Vietnam Airlines was highlighted for having increased the number of its flights.
As a result, the airport has called for the need for a new runway to cope with the demand and to remain competitive.
