The Judicial Police today announced the arrest of a man at Faro Airport, suspected of drug trafficking.
The incident occurred on Sunday when the man went to collect his bag from the carousel, not realising that it had been tracked by various police authorities through each leg of its complicated and highly suspect journey.
The bag was inspected and found to contain 200 grammes of heroin.
The 20-year-old Indian national has a Portuguese Residencia and was carrying papers indicating that he is an unemployed fruit picker resident in the Portimão area.
The detainee is likely to be a mule rather than a trafficer but this will not impress the judge deciding the terms of his detention until trial.
