Briton gets 25 years for Portimão murder

jackson1British expat Nigel Jackson today was found guilty of murdering Brenda Davidson, 72, at their home in Alcalar, Portimão, and of burying her body in the garden in November 2014.

Jackson had been charged with murder, desecration of a body, larceny, IT and telecoms fraud and two counts of misusing Davidson's bank card.

The three judges found Jackson guilty of all five charges and in a 30-minute sentence summary Jackson heard he was to serve 25 years in prison, the maximum term possible under Portuguese law.

It was proved that Jackson murdered Brenda Davidson with blows and a knife attack to her head, face and throat. Jackson then wrapped her body in plastic sheeting before burying it in the garden under some rubble.

Jackson spun a web of wholly unconvincing lies to explain Brenda Davidson’s absence while using her bank card and taking her jewellery.

He told friends that Brenda was in England for medical treatment and told her family she was in Germany with a new partner.

Brenda Davidson’s twin daughters and two sons were in court to hear the sentencing; son Dean said to reporters that, “It won’t bring my mum back, but justice has been served.”
