Thai paddle boarders rescued off Lagos

supThe Captain of Lagos port and the local Maritime Police Commander coordinated an early afternoon rescue on Saturday, February 13, as two stand up paddle boarders were unable to get back to shore without help.

The paddlers were about two miles from Batata beach near Lagos, were picked up by the Ferragudo lifeboat and taken back to Lagos.

The pair showed signs of fatigue and cold but no medical treatment was deemed necessary.

The two SUP practitioners were from Thailand aged, 20 and 23, and had thought it a sensible risk to set out in adverse weather conditions.

When they ventured beyond the shelter of the cliffs, they swiftly were blown out to sea and had zero chance of returning under their own steam.
