A British man in Spain has been arrested for posing as an officer from Interpol.
The 29-year-old, who has not been named, was said to have T-shirts and jackets bearing the Interpol logo along with a badge to identify him as an agent.
He claimed to be involved in a special secret investigation on the island of Mallorca.
But he was unable to inform Spanish police which police force he belonged to or why he had been sent without any official request for assistance having preceded him.
Concluding that the British man had no real connection to the international police organisation, Spanish police arrested him and then searched his home.
There they discovered more clothes bearing the Interpol name and logo but also weapons, including a baton and gas spray. A pair of standard police issue handcuffs was also found.
The Brit is facing charges over impersonating a public official.
