Police from Silves have busted an illegal gambling den in Parchal, Lagoa.
The manager of the enterprise, 34, was arrested and searches also were carried out at another site and in a vehicle.
Five gaming tables, 50 chairs, 75 decks of cards, 840 poker chips and €8,557 in cash were seized along with alcohol, soft drinks and snacks that were displayed for sale.
The business seemed well established with trophies on display for gaming tournaments carried out on site.
The illegal gambling den was in former workshop situated on the ground floor of a house where video surveillance equipment had been installed to monitoring the inside area.
As well as the manager, 20 men and two women were questioned and made official suspects.
The manager was detained and was in court in Portimão this morning to explain his activities.
The operation had the support of the Special Operations Intervention Group of the GNR and GNR officers from Faro.
