The President of the Spanish Government, Mariano Rajoy, today expressed his optimism about recent Portuguese economic data, hailing the successes achieved by the coalition Government.
"I have followed closely the recent economic data from your country and the trend is positive," said Rajoy in an informal chat with press at his official residence Moncloa Palace, during a Christmas get together.
Rajoy said the signs are positive and that everything indicates that things are improving for Portugal, while acknowledging that it must be prudent.
Asked whether there were developments in 2014 for joint infrastructure projects, Rajoy said that there is not a lot of money around for infrastructure projects at present.
"For now we have to sort out the accounts and later see where we are,” said the Spanish PM.
At the same meeting the Spanish Minister of Development, Ana Pastor, reminded the press of rail link development and her aim was to "continue to bring the two countries together."
