Weekend accidents - 4x4 flys off Guadiana bridge

guadianaA Spanish registered 4x4 skidded and flipped over the side of the Guadiana International Bridge this morning, hitting the ground in the Castro Marim Marshland Reserve i.e. on the Portuguese side (see picture below)

One of the occupants managed to get out of the Mitsubishi before it became airborne at around 11:00 this morning: all were female Spanish nationals between 20 and 30-years-old.

Two were transported to Faro Hospital by helicopter. The third was taken to Huelva hospital in Spain.

In Albufeira on Friday night a British tourist was hit by the city’s tourist road train but suffered only superficial injuries despite being sent flying by the impact.  The woman was taken to Faro hospital for treatment.

In Lagos a 46-year-old Briton lost his life while surfing on Saturday pm.

The man was in trouble in the sea, had made it back to Amado beach, Aljezur but was suffering the symptoms of a heart attack. He was attended at the scene but was declared dead at the hospital in Lagos.
