Three more bodies were found today, almost certainly from the group of six young students that were swept from Meco beach.
The Navy continued to patrol the coastline in coordination with searches by the Maritime Authority and this morning spotted and revovered a body, followed by two more this afternoon.
The remains this morning were found one day after a second body was recovered about three kilometers from the site of the accident.
The Navy corvette collected the body at 10.30am and it was taken to the Hospital de Setúbal for formal identification by family members. The other two followed later today and all may undergo DNA tests to confirm their identities if necessary.
The group of seven students from a Lisbon University, four girls and three boys, aged between 21 and 25, were swept off the beach by a large wave on December 15th . Six disappeared with only one making it back to shore to raise the alarm.
This leaves one body unaccounted for, that of a young man.
