Lisbon: Chinese couple charged over daughter's fall from 21st floor

pokerA Chinese couple who left their five-year-old daughter alone while they went off to the Lisbon Casino are to be charged after a six month investigation.

The horrific accident on February 19th this year took place in the luxury São Rafael apartments at the Parque das Nações development, Lisbon.

The girl fell from the 21st floor and died instantly on impact.

Prosecutors have accused the couple of "aggravated abandonment" thus causing their daughter’s death.

The five-year-old opened the door to the balcony, climbed the railing and fell from the 21 floor onto the pavement surrounding the apartment block.

The defendants have been subject to weekly attendance at the local police station and have been banned from leaving the country while waiting to see if charges will be brought.
