Espiche Golf has invested over €150,000 in improving the course and facilities
The golf course near Luz in the Lagos council area already is famous for building an award winning club-house and now has improved its course facilities with work carried out on many fairways and bunkers.
Luís Rocha, director general of Espiche Golf, explains that "this investment phase, budgeted at €150,000 coincided with our third anniversary. The main changes made have been to the fairways and to bunkers in order to improve the golf experience for players of all handicaps."
Rocha also highlighted "the construction of a new practice ‘short-game’ area which will complement the existing driving range. Also, the purchase of artificial grass at the driving range will allow it to be used all year round, regardless of weather conditions."
The improvements include fencing to keep the often voracious wild boars at bay, the widening of paths for buggies and the creation of a new car park to cater for an increasing number of members and visitors.
Espiche Golf won worldwide recognition by becoming the first golf club outside of the United States to rank in the ‘Clubhouse of the Year’ competition organised by Golf Inc Magazine, winning third place in the category for ‘New Construction and Refurbishment.’
