Major improvement in Spanish economy

The eurozone’s fourth largest economy grew by 1.4% in 2014, according to initial data from the National Statistics Office, with expansion recorded for six quarters in a row.

IMF report slams government inability to push through reforms

imfThe International Monetary Fund said today that the economic recovery has slowed in Portugal over the last six months and that the country's growth is being hampered by the inability of the government to push through the agreed reform agenda.

The IMF’s report is the first since the bailout funding period ended and looks at the monitoring period during which agreed reforms have slowed now the pressure is off and all of the bailout money safely drawn down.

Greatest price falls in euro history

Consumer prices in the eurozone were 0.6% lower than a year earlier, following deflation of 0.2% in December, according to a preliminary estimate by Eurostat.

Tourism boss in court over illegal building

Silva is now well known as the well fed boss of the Algarve Tourism Board and as the former mayor of Albufeira which he left in financial tatters before his period of office officially was due to end.

Amazon manages to make a profit
