80% of Internet searches for ‘Portugal’ are from potential tourists

montechorohotelIn fact, the figure is just over 80% of those searching under Portugal who then seek information about travel, accommodation, culture and food - these are the county's potential tourists.

Online search data was analysed by Bloom Consulting which noted that 47% of enquiries were from within the country, the balance of 53% obviously were from abroad.

BES shares continue to slide

Chinese immigration highest in Portugal

chinaThe resident Chinese community in Portugal received the highest increase in fellow countrymen in 2013, according to data contained in the latest Immigration, Frontiers and Asylum report by the immigration and borders service (SEF.)

The Chinese community increased 6.8% compared to 2012, followed by immigrants from Guinea-Bissau up just 0.5%.

Environmental complaints over Faro Island bridge project

To this end, and to the frustration of the local council which wants to spend over €3 million on a shiny new bridge and car parking area to encourage tourists, Quercus has filed a complaint with the European Commission against the Portuguese State because of the council’s decision.

Vilamoura fire put out after 2 hours
