Portugal has done a good job in attracting foreigners by pitching itself as a sun-kissed destination for a long and happy retirement but the Natixis report shows the weather possibly is the only benefit for the nation’s retired population compared to most of the other countries surveyed.

6272The government finally has announced toll reductions on previously free SCUT roads, but the 15% decrease has been met with disappointment and criticism from user groups.

The “prudent and balanced” toll discounts will apply from August 1st on four SCUT roads which mostly are in rural areas, and the trans-Algarve A22 Via do Infante.

Dead dolphin and Minke whale washed ashore in eastern Algarve

The two metre long adult dolphin and the baby Minke whale were found at Barril beach, Tavira and Manta Rota beach, Vila Real de Santo António, according to the Maritime Authority.

Almargem highly critical of 'biased' coastal development plan

France's president visits Lisbon claiming both countries have 'the same vision of Europe'

Portugal's sardine catch may increase in joint EU application with Spain
