Sheraton Algarve's total refurbishment

pinecliffsThe Sheraton Algarve Hotel and Pine Cliffs Resort at the posh end of Albufeira will be totally refurbished in a phased project that is set to end in 2017.

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide announced today that the work will include all the existing bedrooms, public areas, restaurants and bars. In addition the property will be extended to include 78 eight new luxury suites, a new Italian restaurant, a signature spa and underground parking.

In today’s announcement the hotel chain management commented that the renovation is part of a new agreement between United Investments (Portugal) and the global hotel operator, Starwood Hotels & Resorts.

The agreement includes the extension of the existing management contract with Starwood for a period of 20 years.

Starwood’s ‘Luxury Collection’ is a selection of over 85 of hotels and resorts worldwide. Other Luxury Collection properties include the Hotel Gritti Palace in Venice, recently renovated, and the Hotel Alfonso XIII in Seville and the Hotel Maria Cristina in Spain’s San Sebastian.

The renovation of the Sheraton Algarve Hotel is part of the overall strategy by Starwood Hotels to restore its Luxury Collection hotels across Europe and the Algarve has not been left out.

The extensive renovation will be carried out in distinct phases with the first beginning in November this year. This first phase will be completed before the opening of the hotel for the 2015 spring/summer season. The second phase will take place during the winter of 2015, and the third and final stage will be held during the winter of 2016.

The project will be completed in spring 2017, in time for the hotel’s 25th anniversary.
