Head Coach Eduard Eranosian brings the squad to the Algarve, Portugal, for Intensive Team Training.
Between 14th January and 1st February 2014, Kabuscorp Sport Clube do Palanca from Luanda in Angloa conducted their pre-season training at the Amendoeira Golf Resort near the town of Silves in the Algarve.
As current champions of the Angolan Championship (the Girabola), Head Coach Eduard Eranosian wanted to use this intensive training camp to increase the team’s fitness levels. With new additions to the squad, including Portuguese players Wilson Gasper (midfielder) and Hugo Firmíno (forward) the twice daily training sessions were also designed to help with team building. Four friendly matches were also held including three at Amendoeira against Portimonense FC, Louletano and Vitória Guimarães B, to further prepare the team for their forthcoming matches back home.
President Bento Kangamba founded Kabuscorp in 1994 and has seen a steady improvement in results: the team finished second in the 2011 Girabola, but secured first position in 2013 for the first time ever. For the team, pre-season training is essential to help maintain this position and to also prepare the squad for the Confederation of African Football Champions League.
Eranosian was delighted with the training camp and said, “Many thanks to everyone in the resort for the way we were treated: very kind staff, great food, spectacular football pitch. I hope to return soon.”
The team trained at the Amendoeira Sports Club which is located within the grounds of the Amendoeira Golf Resort. They had exclusive use of the full size natural grass pitch in complete privacy – an important factor to enable the team to focus on their training objectives without distraction.
Players and staff stayed in spacious two bedroom apartments with four people sharing two twin rooms, served by 2 separate bathrooms. The management team stayed in three bedroom villas close to the apartment blocks.
In between training sessions, healthy and nutritious meals were served at the stunning Amendoeira Clubhouse, prepared in line with the team’s requirements.
The Amendoeira Golf Resort team are experienced in hosting warm weather training camps for sports teams, with Al-Arabi Sporting Club, Blackpool FC, NEC Nijmegen and Aston Villa FC being just some of the teams who have chosen the resort for their pre-season training camps in the past.
In addition to the facilities used by professional sports teams, the Amendoeira Sports Club boasts two 5-a-side football pitches and six tennis courts. The on-site golf courses comprise the Oceânico Faldo Course designed by Sir Nick Faldo, the Oceânico O’Connor Jnr. course designed by Christy O’Connor Jnr., and the 9 hole, par 3 Oceânico Academy course.
Professional warm weather training packages are available for football, Gaelic football and hurling and include transfers, accommodation, training and meals. Luxury accommodation is provided in spacious two bedroom apartments with communal pools or in three & four bedroom villas with private pools. Sportsmen meals are served at the impressive clubhouse which overlooks the golf courses.
The Amendoeira Golf Resort team can prepare tailor made training packages. Off-site excursions and team building activities can also be arranged to suit the team.
