Water Kings crowned in PortugalThe city of Lagos hosted the most adventurous watermen challenge for a 12 hours non-stop competition, in an innovative night and day format.

On the weekend of 23 and 24 July the attention of nautical sports was focused on Meia Praia Beach in Lagos where the first edition of Water Kings was held. From noon until midnight, 62 enthusiastic participants were challenged during 12 hours non-stop, in an unprecedented format with mandatory multidisciplinary teams performing in kitesurf, sailing, windsurfing and stand up paddle. The changing weather conditions during the competition led to a strategic management of the sports chosen in each period and also stressed out the need of a real team work to endure all the hours on the water.

From noon until midnight, 62 enthusiastic participants were challengedMaria Quintans de Matos, Mayor of Lagos Council present at the Closing Ceremony held on Sunday afternoon, stated the event was a winning bet and prove that the connection of Lagos with the ocean continues today and lives on, updated in the experience of water sports and its strong presence in Lagos beaches. Also, Francisco Lufinha (World Record holder for the longest journey kitesurfing without stops) was happy with the participation of 17 teams and the enthusiasm and effort of them all during the 12 hours.
