RCEPI held a fund raising Solidarity Dinner at the local Estoi Poeta Emiliano da Costa School on Saturday 17th March. The cookery students at the school prepared a fantastic 3 course meal which they then served to 64 guests.
First class musical entertainment was provided by internationally renowned Ricardo J Martins a multi instrumentalist musician specializing in the classical Portuguese guitar who has released 2 albums. He continues to live in the Algarve but tours extensively abroad.
He was accompanied on vocals by an outstanding local talent Cristina Paulo. She lives and works locally, but has studied music at the Berkley College of Music in Boston. Cristina has a sublime voice and her range covers everything from pop to classical. Ricardo and Cristina gave an outstanding performance much to the delight of those present.
Approximately 1300 euros was raised thanks to the generosity of local sponsors Aviludo; Baião; DineiFrutas; Farovinhos; Florista Beija-flor; Frimarc; João Domigos; Manná; Marco e Elsa ; Nuno Jesus; Olívia e Rui; Panificadora da Malhada Velha and Jaimie Ferrada. Thanks also to Plastic Artist Guida Vaz who kindly allowed her paintings to be exhibited.
The funds raised will be used by the school to provide education and equipment to those pupils with special needs both physical and mental enabling them to stay in mainstream schooling.
RCEPI are very grateful to everyone who contributed to making this such a successful evening for a very worthy cause.
