Rotary Club Estoi Palace International held its semi-annual quiz night on Friday, 31st October and achieved another great result. € 1408 were raised for the club’s ongoing project to supplement the Food Bank’s monthly parcels with milk for the underprivileged families of Estoi.
As milk prices have increased and the families requiring assistance has increased, so had the budget required.
Ladies who lunch last week raised €664 towards animal care at a west coast charity for abandoned animals.
Sheila Merriott, organiser of the lunch on behalf of AEZA (Associação Ecologista e Zoófila de Aljezur) explained: “The charity does fantastic work rescuing abandoned dogs and cats, some of which are left in a pretty distressed state, and we thought this ladies-only lunch would be an ideal way of raising some much-needed funds.”
The ladies of BALL (Buddies Algarve Ladies Lunch) had a great time at this month’s lunch date on Wednesday 22nd October. The lunch, organised by Pat Roberts, was held at ‘A Tasquina,’ restaurant Carvoeiro.
Fi-line Fashions presented a range of their wonderful winter collection, modelled by some of the BALL members who now do it so expertly. Move over Kate Moss!
It will be smiles all round when a brand new pushchair, carry chair and baby clothes are delivered to young mothers in the Almancil area.
The items were purchased with money raised at a recent private lunch given by members of the Almancil International Rotary Club.
Portugal's Biggest Coffee Morning got off to a good start, and next year we want to get the entire Algarve community behind the event with hundreds of coffee mornings taking place throughout the region.
This year the Hilton event raised €1292.36 plus a generous donation of €500.
The biggest question each year for the Vale da Telha Quiz Club on the Algarve’s west coast is:
“Which charity will we choose this time?”
And the latest lucky recipient is the Algoz School Autistic Unit whose Voluntary Fund Raiser Margaret S Brett last week received a cheque for €900 raised by the club’s 50 quizzers.
The Mac Millan coffee morning and AOA Cancer Support on Saturday September 27th 2014 was a great triumph, we would like to thank all the sponsors that made the event a success.
A very big thank you to everyone who supported this years Backpack Drive for children returning to school.
The calls of help for backpack donations from organisations across the Algarve were answered with record support of the campaign, now in its 8th year.
