Orquestra Sinfónica do Algarve debut to Celebrate International Day of Music

ORQUESTRA SINFÓNICA DO ALGARVE DEBUT TO CELEBRATE INTERNATIONAL DAY OF MUSICThis coming weekend brings the debut concerts of a new regional professional symphony orchestra, the Orchestra Sinfónica do Algarve, to celebrate the International Day of Music.  The new orchestra aims not only to boost the cultural calendar of our region but also to provide a professional platform for young professional musicians from our region, with the potential to perform within the ranks of the orchestra and as soloists.

The first concert is in Faro at the Teatro das Figuras on the Friday 1st October at 21h00 and introduces the young concert pianist from Israel Ido Zeev, playing the ever-popular Tchaikovsky 1st Piano Concerto, accompanied by the orchestra. The rest of the programme consists of highlights from the most popular film scores from composers John Williams and Ennio Morricone.  

Tickets are now on sale online, through the BOL ticketing service, or may be purchased through the ticket office in Faro. They are 18€ or 20€.

The second concert is on the Saturday 2nd October at 21h00 at the Grande Auditorium of the Palacio dos Congressos of the Herdade dos Salgados in Albufeira. This concert features Gonçalo Pescada, an internationally acclaimed accordion player from our region, with the remainder of the programme featuring the same film scores as the first concert. Tickets are 10€  and are on sale at the Galeria Municipal João Bailote in Albufeira from 9h30 to 12h30,13h30 to 17h00 or on the Saturday night at the venue from 19h30 to 20h30.
