Latest International News from SWIMFIN UK!

LATEST INTERNATIONAL NEWS FROM SWIMFIN UK!SwimFin Uk are proud to announce the collaboration between Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS) Cameroon Branch and SwimFin (UK) with the aim of preventing avoidable death by drowning.

With a population of over 6 million children and the lack of amenities for learning to swim, both organisations have joined forces in search of the same goal, zero drownings.

Justin Bakinga, President of the RLSS Cameroon stated….

“The RLSS aim is to educate as many people as possible, both children and adults in water safety and drowning prevention strategies. My team and I visit schools on a regular base to deliver lessons on water and beach safety”.

He also remarked, “That the use of a swimming pool for the vast majority of families is pure luxury. Our teaching facility is a lagoon at the beach, It’s not ideal but it’s all we have”.

“We welcome the offer and sponsorship from SwimFin and the company’s Managing Director Kevin Moseley in assisting us in teaching swimming to as many children and adults as we can.

Kevin Moseley is a qualified and experienced teacher/ coach and RLSS tutor with over 35 years experience in and around water. He started his career as a life guard and knows only too well the importance of water safety and learning to swim.

Kevin commented “ The statistics for unintentional drowning around the world are horrendous, drowning is avoidable. By working together to educate the dangers around any body of water and teaching basic swimming skills we hope to make a difference. We are delighted to be able to join forces with Justin and his team”.

Currently there is one qualified swimming instructor and 7 life guards. Future plans will be to increase those numbers and look at the possibility of acquiring a mobile pool where we can take swimming lessons to the schools.
