Each year, several big video games are released during the fall season. The fall 2021 release schedule includes many highly anticipated games that will be released as part of the Xbox Series X generation and PS5. Clearly there are odd anomalies in the industry, as well as the COVID-19 pandemic still affecting it.
It is now time to wait and see what this fall has to offer. For a game to qualify, it must have a confirmed fall release date. As a result, LEGO Star Wars-The Skywalker Saga, which has no release date, and God of War, which is scheduled to arrive in 2021, along with many others, were possibly considered but ultimately discarded. Therefore, listed below is the release date order rather than the numerical order.
Halo Infinite
In the same way that Horizon is Sony's odd duck, Halo Infinite is Microsoft's. Halo Infinite was originally expected to release last fall alongside the Xbox Series, but it has been postponed. Microsoft, however, has been marketing the game in various ways, and many are anticipating a beta to take place in the near future. So regardless of Microsoft's silence, fans should be prepared to relive the Master Chief experience this fall.
Microsoft will release Halo Infinite for the Xbox One and PC in 2021.
Horizon Forbidden West
Aloy achieved the status of a PlayStation mascot when Horizon Zero Dawn was released, joining Insomniac Games' Spider-Man or God of War's Kratos. In her sequel, she will visit the titular Forbidden West to look for the source of an unknown plague. Currently, Horizon Forbidden West is viewed as Sony's fall tentpole, but it is also considered among those odd ducks.
Although there is no official release date, fans know it will be released this fall. If the rumours are true, the game's release date could be revealed at the State of Play on August 12.
The PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 releases of Horizon Forbidden West are scheduled for Q3/Q4 2021.
Call of Duty
Call of Duty games always have a strong following in the gaming industry, and 2021 is no exception. Sledgehammer Games is developing it, which is a bit unusual for a game developer, and there is not much more information available today.
Normally, Call of Duty titles is teased in April or May in the run-up to games. However, Black Ops Cold War didn't come out until late August 2020, likely because Warzone was used and there was an ongoing pandemic.
Considering that Call of Duty games traditionally dominate sales charts around their release date, it stands to reason that Call of Duty 2021 will as well. The next Call of Duty game is due out in 2021.
Dying Light 2
A release date for Dying Light 2 has been confirmed for December 7, which might have been a myth for several years. A new protagonist Aiden Caldwell goes into The City in a game set 20 years after the original. The City seems to be one of the most distinguishing features of the game, along with the undead infestation and Caldwell's parkour abilities.
Various factions and settlements are scattered among its seven distinct regions, and players must choose between saving some of them and damning others. In the end, this will lead to a change in the state of the game world and how Aiden interacts with NPCs, leading to consequences and choices that in turn, will affect the story.
PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox One users can play Dying Light 2 starting December 7.
Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl
It's been a while since we've seen any Gen 4 remakes, and as much as the announcement of Pokemon Shining Pearl and Brilliant Diamond was met with controversy, many fans are excited to return to this generation.
It is unlikely fans will notice major differences to the original games, but since much hasn't been confirmed, it makes sense that some elements will move over to Pokemon Platinum. The wait now for Pokemon fans will not be as long as it has been, as November is just a few months away.
November 19 marks the release date for Pokemon Shining Pearl and Brilliant Diamond on Switch.
Shin Megami Tensei 5
It features both old and new gameplay mechanics in a contemporary setting in Tokyo. Shin Megami Tensei 5 is being developed at Atlus. It is a game about high school students sucked into a different Tokyo overrun with demons, forcing them to fuse with a creature called Aogami and turn into a Nahobino. The game aims to deal with real-world issues, show its own brand of charm, and slay demons at the same time.
The release date for Shin Megami Tensei 5 is November 11.
Forza Horizon 5
The next installment of Forza Horizon takes fans to Mexico, and it is complete with hundreds of the world's best cars. The open-world setting is as detailed as its cars, with each set complementing the other.
This Microsoft-exclusive title presents an open, evolving system where players can interact with each other and explore a variety of opportunities to grow. Fans have little reason not to purchase Forza Horizon 5 when it releases on November 9 on Xbox Game Pass, as with all Xbox exclusives.
On November 9, Forza Horizon 5 will be available on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox One X.
Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy
Though the Guardians of the Galaxy announcement leaked slightly ahead of time, it was nonetheless an interesting announcement. A single-player adventure game where players control Star-Lord, Guardians of the Galaxy is more successful than Marvel's Avengers as a live-service title. Players will use their elemental guns to gain the upper hand in some seemingly intense gameplay while also directing other members of the team to perform special actions.
The Guardians are getting rich quickly after a massive intergalactic war, but they accidentally unleash some threat after a bet between two team members (which actually fits better into the MCU version's style than the comics).
Guardians of the Galaxy arrive on Windows PC, PS4, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X on October 26.
Battlefield 2042
As the ultimate Battlefield experience, Battlefield 2042 is setting the bar high. Its multiplayer options tell a story even though there is no single-player campaign. Approximately over 60% of satellites around Earth crash to the planet because of a Kessler Syndrome situation (a hypothetical space phenomenon caused by space pollution). The result is a global blackout. The tensions between Americans and Russians will likely escalate to war between the two countries in about two years or by 2042.
Besides the standard multiplayer modes and maps, Battlefield Portal allows you to create custom modes and maps, such as Conquest (where two teams fight for control points) and Breakthrough (where teams try to capture each other's stronghold points). At present, it is unknown what the cooperative multiplayer mode, Hazard Zone, will bring.
For PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X, Battlefield 2042 releases on October 22.
Back 4 Blood
The developers of Back 4 Blood are the same ones who created Left 4 Dead, and so many people think that the game is a spiritual successor to the original. Because Left 4 Dead was so popular, Back 4 Blood had a lot of advantages.
Despite having their personality traits, each of the Cleaners has their own advantage when facing off against the Legion of Riddled. Whichever Cleaner you choose, you should have a blast fighting the undead.
On October 12, Back 4 Blood will be released for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
Metroid Dread
In 2021, the announcement of the game, Metaroid Dread, was one of the most shocking of the E3 show. The game finished the main plot established between Samus and the Metroid between Metroid Prime 4 and Metroid Dread creatures.
ZDR's robots have gone missing after seven EMMI robots were sent there, and Samus must investigate the disappearances and see what else is happening in the region.
The game release date for the Nintendo Switch is October 8.
Far Cry 6
A few delays have led to the release date of Far Cry 6. As Dani Rojas, players will come into conflict with Anton and his son as they take part in the next entry in the long-running Ubisoft franchise. Fortunately, fans won't need to wait too long for answers about how that'll work. In addition, fans know that the DLC will provide more insight into the franchise's villain past, including Pagan Min, Joseph Seed, and Vaas.
On October 7, Far Cry 6 will launch on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox One X.
Lost Judgment
This time around, players assume the role of detective Takayuki Yagami, whose investigation into Akihiro Ehaha's murder focuses on one of his accusers this time around.
The storyline has serious elements, but there is still humour to be found and some slight changes to the overall gameplay. According to Judgment, as a spinoff of the Yakuza franchise, it will always be one facet of Yakuza, while Ikiran Kasuga and Yakuza will be another.
Despite some controversy surrounding Judgment, its actors, a PC edition, and more, it now appears highly unlikely to be another game in the spinoff franchise.
PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X will receive Lost Judgment on September 21.
