An Algarve pensioner who disappeared three weeks ago near Mertola was found on Sunday, at about 12:00, lifeless in the waters of the Vascão river.
Manuel Brás, 88, a hunter from Quarteira, Loulé had not been seen since October 23, after leaving home to meet a group of friends in Santa Cruz, Almodôvar.
After finding the body this Sunday, a criminal investigation team attended the scene and concluded that there was no evidence of a crime.
Relatives of the victim went to the site and identified the body as that of Sr Brás.
The body was removed at around 17:00 by the Mértola Firefighters and taken to Beja Hospital where a full autopsy will be carried out.
