The Tax Action Unit of the GNR has raided and shut down an illegal gambling operation in Olhão, seizing over €50,000 in cash.
According to a statement from the GNR, following a probe into illegal gambling and tax evasion that started a year ago, six searches were carried out last weekend, one at the casino site in a warehouse, two searched suspects’ cars and at three homes.

The illegal casino was shut down and the GNR seized €53,210 in cash, 1,080 gambling chips; 12 decks of cards; 15 dice; six mobile phones; three computers and two gaming tables for poker.
Twelve people, aged between 33 and 58-years-old, have been classified as defendants, of which nine are accused of illegal gambling and three of illegal gambling and tax fraud.
The searches were supported by the Faro Public Security Police.
