The organisers of the 33rd annual Olhão Seafood Festival have confirmed that Xutos & Pontapés will be in this year’s line-up, closing the event on the 15th of August.
Other acts include Agir, Vanessa da Mata and Ana Moura who will perform over the six day festival which sees the city filled to capacity.
The Jardim Pescador Olhanense is fenced off for the ticket only event which this year will take place between 10 and 15 August.
Last year’s festival, Olhão’s biggest, was opened by Prime Minister, António Costa, who was accompanied by Minister of the Sea, Ana Paula Vitorino, the Deputy Minister, Eduardo Cabrita, José Apolinário, the Secretary of State for Fisheries and Miguel Freitas, the Secretary of State for Forestry and Regional Development – all of whom were keen to help the re-election of the socialist mayor, António Pina - who was voted back in.
The Prime Minister was faced with a group of protestors from the Users Commission of the Via do Infante, led by Algarve Left Bloc MP João Vasconcelos, who was told that the government already has reduced tolls and that was that.
