Tourist board launches new site for Algarve's service providers

tourismThe body that promotes the Algarve region’s tourism appeal, the RTA, has launched an updated website to enhance its communication with tourism service providers, or 'institutions,' as it calls them.

The turismodoalgarve.pt site, in Portuguese only, has become "more dynamic and intuitive," according to its creators, and presents “new content, greater interactivity and a better browsing experience, accessible from any mobile device.”

Among the main novelties is an area dedicated to the Algarve’s 20 tourism offices, with detailed information on each but not yet with an online product sales facility.

The homepage shows local news and events, as well as an ‘investor support’ area, which allows people to schedule meetings with the RTA, and a library, managed by the Documentation and Information Center of RTA, which has about 15,000 titles for consultation and reading in person.

Also accessible from the home page is information about projects, such as the much maligned 365 Algarve off-season events programme. Other projects include Algarve Nature Week, Algarve Cooking Vacations and Cycling & Walking Algarve.

The RTA also runs the visitalgarve.pt promotional site, in Portuguese, English, Spanish and French, as well as the upgraded institutional site turismodoalgarve.pt.

These are said to be “two fundamental tools of contact with our target audiences,” according to the outgoing president of the RTA, Desidério Silva, who adds that, “the RTA has transformed the institutional site into a more dynamic platform, which cuts distances and facilitates procedures."

The new site is part of the ‘Algarve online - Reinforcement of the online presence of the Algarve tourist destination’ project which is co-financed by CRESC Algarve 2020.

Desidério Silva leaves the RTA presidency in July after five long years, to be replaced by his current deputy, João Fernandes.

A search for 'Fatacil 2018' on both of these tourism websites resulted in 'no results,' the 'events' agenda offers only July dates and ticket information was available only on the https://www.fatacil.pt/en Fatacil site which does not list this year's lineup for the show on 17th to 26th of August 2018.
