Following a public meeting with the owners of businesses affected by the storms that lashed Portugal's coastline in January and February, the Association of Hotels and Restaurants in Portugal (AHRESP) and Tourism of Portugal have announced a fund of €10 million to help rebuild and repair damaged beach establishments.
The funding guidelines have been issued and cover any projects that are for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of damaged beach facilities that offer food and/or drink.
Repairs that already have been contracted for by business owners will qualify as long as the work has not yet been completed.
In a statement today the association called on the Government and councils that are responsible for the repair of those public spaces affected by the bad weather to get Portugal’s seafronts sorted out so as to present tourists with good facilities this year.
There will be a meeting in the Algarve to clarify the terms and conditions for grants on the 9th of April in the School of Hospitality and Tourism in Faro.
