Tomorrow, the 8th of September, at 10:00 am, a public ceremony will mark the start of 5 million euros worth of expansion work on the Loulé Health Unit, with the laying of the first foundation stone.
The building will be located on land next to the current Health Center and will have several facilities: Grouping of Central Health Centers – ACES Central, Lauroé Family Health Unit – USF Lauroé, Community Health Care Unit – UCC Gentes de Loulé and the University Health Centre, the latter being the responsibility of the ABC – Algarve Biomedical Center.
At a time when the National Health Service (SNS) is a topic that is on the agenda for the Loulé municipality, this new unit "constitutes an important response to the existing health care needs of the Algarve region, especially in terms of equipment, as it will improve services, especially in the area with the highest population density".
The investment will be around 5 million euros, financed by the Municipality of Loulé (65%) and the Central Administration (35%). The works are expected o take two and a half years.
