Lagoa council have purchased the land beside the Fatacil area, formerly owned by Mitsubishi, guaranteeing the expansion of the Fair and Exhibition Park of Lagoa.
In a statement, the municipality talks about a deal "long desired in Lagoa", worth €347,000, and comprising of around 9000 square metres of land, of which 3000 square metres is covered area.
The municipality refers to this as a "strategic and essential acquisition to guarantee the natural expansion of the park and the development of Fatacil".
The area will allow, taking advantage of existing facilities on site, a multipurpose pavillion for holding events throughout the year, including Fatacil, with customized stands that are currently not used in the fair because they can not be outdoors.
The Fair and Exhibition Park of Lagoa will also have two more entrances, facilitating the entry of visitors, but also the entry of exhibition vehicles.
“This is a long-desired business, which guarantees the future of Fatacil, which will allow the creation of other events at the Parque de Feiras e Exposições de Lagoa throughout the year.”, said Luís Encarnação, President of Lagoa City Hall.
