The Algarve has two projects on the shortlist of nominees for the 6th "Construction Awards' organised by Building magazine. The awards pick out the very best in the categories of construction, architecture, real estate and engineering.
Villa Escarpa in Lagos, a project by Mário Martins, is in the running for 'Best Private Project’ in the architecture section, and the Epic Sana Algarve, a hotel in Albufeira, is in the running for the 'Best Tourist Enterprise' in the real estate section.
The Construction Awards will coincide for the first time with the IN Festival - International Festival of Creativity and Innovation which will increase their exposure.
The winners of the awards will be known at the start of the IN Festival on the 14th of November at the Lisbon International Fair at the Park of Nations.
As the Algarve’s construction sector has all but vanished due to a lack of work, it will be a boost to win an award in the region to demonstrate that good quality buildings are still being built and that Algarve workers retain the skills to build them.
The winners will be decided by online voting until November 12th.
