Extradition Sikh detained in Portugal for a further 22 days

singhterroristUK resident Paramjeet Singh has been held in detention in Portugal at the request of the Indian authorities since 18 December, 2015 after his surprise inclusion on an Interpol alert list and subsequent arrest at an Albufeira hotel.

The Indian justice department wants Singh to stand trial in India for terrorist activities and yesterday he was detained for a further 22 days to allow the Indian authorities to get its extradition case together.

Bhai Amrik Singh, the Chair of the Sikh Federation in the UK said yesterday, “the additional period is to allow the Indian authorities more time to produce evidence on the extradition of Paramjeet Singh to India where he will almost certainly be subject to torture and possible death.”
