International School of the Algarve student Madalena Severino has been recongnised with a Cambridge Top in the World Award for having achieved the best world mark in the Cambridge IGCSE Foreign Language Portuguese examination, taken in June 2013.
Cambridge Top in the World awards are given to learners worldwide who achieved the highest standard mark in the world for a single subject.
“I am happy. I worked hard, made an effort but I didn’t expect this. It was a surprise”, said Madalena Severino, 14 years of age, now in the Year 9 (Class A) of the National Section.
During the last school year, Madalena Severino moved to Year 9 of the International Section to upgrade her English. “I have learned a lot”, says the student.
The Top in the World Award is a reward for her work but also for all the teachers who have taught her since she first came to our school, at 4 years of age. It is an honour which makes us all very proud.
