Turismo do Algarve welcomes the announcement of the inclusion of Portugal in the list of safe destinations defined by the United Kingdom, hoping that the region can recover some of the lost time.
“This was news that had been long awaited, not only by the region but also by the thousands of British tourists who visit the Algarve every year”, explains João Fernandes, president of Turismo do Algarve. “They will now finally have the opportunity to witness how the destination is properly prepared to welcome all visitors safely, a message that we have been reinforcing for a long time in that market.”

The Algarve offers clean beaches, fresh air and open countryside. Partnered with low population density, hygiene and health protocols for hotels, restaurants and activities, this should give confidence to travellers seeking to visit Portugal in the post-lockdown world.
Known for its beautiful beaches and amazing coastline, the Algarve is one of the top beach destinations in the world. With the mantra of social distancing in our psyches, you may be worried about being crowded on the beach. Don’t be. The Algarve has some incredibly long beaches where social distancing is not an issue. Even at the height of summer, you can enjoy quality beach days on lesser frequented stretches of sand. Just one of the reasons why the Algarve should be your top travel destination after Covid-19.
Time at home has given us the opportunity to plan for the future and investigate travel opportunities among other things. Ready for a dream journey? Portugal by train should be a top priority.
