Thanks to the tremendous generous response from everybody this year, well over 200 boxes filled with items of warm clothing, food, chocolates and other goodies have been received by the family charity Castelo de Sonhos based in Silves.
Distribution is now taking place with many boxes being delivered to rural areas such as Sao Marcos da Serra. From the attached photos you can see the joy these boxes bring to elderly people, especially to those living on their own.
Castelo de Sonhos would like to say a big THANK YOU everyone who took the time to fill and wrap the Christmas shoeboxes, particularly the following :
- Silves Rotary Club
- Julia Bardill & her friends at Balaia Golf Village in Albufeira
- Donna McFadden who organized a collection of boxes at the Guia Christmas Fair
- Kathleen Kuys & Sue Clegg
- Paul McDowell and friends from his golf club
- The ladies at the Castelo de Sonhos charity shop, many of whom knitted warm
bedsocks, hats and scarves to fill the boxes.- ICELAND (Overseas Supermarket) in Albufeira &
Finally the charity would like to thank a "mystery" lady from Vilamoura who saw the advert for this appeal in a local English newspaper and delivered many boxes directly to the charity in Silves. And of course last, but not least, the charity would like to thank the local English newspapers for advertising this appeal.
A great success.... Thank you for making Christmas special.
