Record Breaking Golf FundraiserAlmancil International Rotary Club broke all its own fund-raising records at a recent golf tournament held at Vilamoura Old Course a total of 14,400 euros was raised for the benefit of local charities.  86 players participated.  The winning team was announced at a gala dinner held at The Millennium course club house in the evening attended by more than 140 people.

END POLIO NOW Charity Bike Ride Raises €1680The Rotary Club of Estoi Palace International (RCEPI) organised a fundraising bike ride with Activity Algarve Bike Rides on Sunday 24th November.
The sunny weather saw two enthusiastic groups of cyclists assemble outside the Estoi Pousada at 9.30am. One group of riders cycled all the way up to the top of the 635 metre Cerro Sao Miguel, on a challenging 40 km round trip, returning to a local Estoi café for a well deserved coffee.

West Coast Charity Bar Walk Raises More Than €3,000

Bob Packham, Cormac Murphy & Carl PackhamThe West Coast’s annual fancy dress Charity Bar Walk has now raised, in total, more than €13,000 for local good causes. This year’s walk - the fifth - has so far contributed €3,013 to that total after another fun-filled 3.54km (2.2mile) stroll in the sun last month, calling in at a number of bars along the way for liquid refreshment.

Estoi Charity Party Helping The CommunityThe mission of Rotary Club Estoi Palace (RCEPI) has always been to help in the local community and since 2017 RCEPI together with the local school authority Agrupamento de Escolas Pinheiro e Rosa have organized an annual “Arraial”/Charity Party in Estoi.
The first Charity Party in 2017 raised over 5000 euros to help a local Estoi university student who was losing her sight due to a congenital eye condition, to complete her university studies and help with her medical treatment.

Obrigado Bombeiros! Auction Raises €5,200!!The 4th Obrigado, Bombeiros! Auction held on 21st September was again a successful event and raised €5,200 for the Bombeiros of Lagoa and Silves, despite the adverse weather conditions on the day.
Those who attended the live auction at Carvoeiro Tennis Club were generous in their response to the incredible array of goods and services donated by local businesses. These included artwork, fine wines and dining, boat trips, rounds of golf and stays at 5 star resorts in the Algarve, Lisbon, Edinburgh and Barcelona. Also, a show jacket donated by Sir Cliff Richard, which he wore in 1975 at the Albert Hall in London will be auctioned online in the next few weeks.

CDS Party: Animal Rescue Algarve is doing ‘excellent work’

MP João Rebelo (White polo) - Photo by ARALast week, on October 3rd, the CDS (Social Democratic Centre) Party visited the Animal Rescue Algarve’s (ARA) shelter at Cabanita, Loulè. Representing the party were MP and party headliner for the Algarve, João Rebelo, President of CDS’s Advisory to Loulé, Isilda Guerreiro, and Member of CDS’s Advisory to Loulé, Luís Afonso.
In a statement, CDS said that ARA was ‘an association totally unlike the kennels usually known by the party, where the dogs and cats sheltered have great standards of living’, highlighting the ‘designated recreational and housing areas, the daily walks with volunteers, the health treatments and training’. The party claimed that ARA was ‘an association totally unlike the kennels usually known.’
