The driver who fatally ran over two women last Sunday morning, told the GNR that he fell asleep when the tragic accident took place, according to Portuguese newspaper, Correio da Manhã.
The accident that resulted in the death of a mother and daughter, aged 75 and 47, happened just a few metres from their home, on the EN125 in Quatro Estradas, Loulé. See article.
The 34 year old man, who suffered minor injuries, reportedly tried to leave the scene of the accident, but members of the public managed to detain him until the GNR arrived.
