Pupils at the International School in Vilamoura raised monies to help Riding for the Disabled in the Algarve to continue to offer riding therapy to all disabled people who would, through riding therapy, benefit in their mental and physical health and happiness, be given the opportunity to do so, and to achieve maximum ability from disability.
The Rotary Club of Estoi Palace International (RCEPI) organised its 4th annual End Polio Now fundraising bike ride with Activity Algarve Bike Rides on Sunday 25th November. The wet weather did not deter the riders and an enthusiastic group turned out to take part.
The fifty guests at a Remembrance Dinner on November 10th marking the 100th anniversary since the end of WW1 helped to raise €724 for the British Legion’s Poppy Appeal.
The western Algarve section of the Royal British Legion Portugal hosted the dinner at the Hotel Belavista in Praia da Luz, with the theme “Thank You!” to recognize the sacrifice of the fallen in what is known as The Great War.
Madrugada, the charitable association which provides care and support for people affected by life limiting illness, hosted a large number of members, volunteers and dignitaries on Saturday 17th November, at the official inauguration of its new Support Centre in Luz.
afpop East Algarve organised a Wine Tasting & Dinner on the 15th November and raised €1300 for our local StreetLife Animal Sterilisation Programme.
Our thanks go to all of the afpop EA members who attended the event, Vila Monte for their excellent food & service and to SoGrape who very generously contributed the wines for the evening.
Of course it was too good to last. The steady reduction in the number of residents at Goldra has been brought to a halt by an influx of animals dumped in various places. Fortunately, they are all youngsters at the moment, with a good chance of rapid re-homing, but the time and effort, not to mention expense involved in rearing and protecting them is again putting a strain on the resources of the sanctuary and its managers.
The mission of Rotary Club Estoi Palace (RCEPI) has always been to help in the local community and last year the first Charity Party raised over 5000 euros to help a local Estoi university student who was losing her sight due to a congenital eye condition, to complete her university studies and help with her medical treatment.
It´s that time of the year again to get out the dancing shoes, as NIGHTSHIFT are back in town for the APAA Dinner & Dance at O Caseiro in Arão on Saturday 10th November, at 7.30pm. All monies go to APAA.
