The Algarve branch of Alzheimer Portugal will start the first Dementia Support Group in the Algarve, with weekly meetings beginning April 19th 2024.

The Algarve Senior Bikers ride this month was from São Marcos de Serra, through the hills towards Monchique before heading down to Silves, for a stop near the river for refreshments.

The Saint Andrew’s Society of the Algarve duly held their Burns Supper at the Ponte Romana restaurant in Silves on Saturday 27 January. The Supper was a resounding success with 140 participants.

On Tuesday the 23rd of January the Algarve Senior Bikers held their New Year's ride. This ride had been postponed from the previous week, due to the heavy rains and high winds in the area.

Pierre Caeiro has been appointed the new head of the English Freemasons in Portugal. He was invested during a meeting of the Lagos based Lodge of Discoveries held at the Tivoli Hotel, Lagos on Thursday 18^th January.

Training re-starts in Lagoa next Thursday, 11th January at 17.30h. Rugby promotes respect, discipline, personal development and team ethics, which are skills that kids need to get through life... why not give it a try!?

On Friday the 8th of December, I had the pleasure of hosting the Algarve Senior Bikers Christmas charity lunch, this is an annual event for members and friends of the ASB which raises funds for the Gaivota home for children and teenagers in Albufeira. 

The Saint Andrew’s Society of the Algarve held another successful Saint Andrew’s Ball with 120 guests at the Penina Hotel on Saturday 25th November. Our piper Malcolm MacGillivray came out of retirement again to greet guests into the hotel and then led the parade into the ball after the champagne reception.
