The Irish Ambassador enjoys a social weekend in the Algarve

Irish Ambassador to Portugal, Her Excellency Anne Webster attended the annual Summer Party of the Society and found the garden had been decorated with green, white and gold balloons and Irish flags; even the table napkins were in the Irish colours.

Changes to Consular opening hours - Lisbon and Portimão

British ConsulateAt the British Consulates in Lisbon and Portimão, we are introducing some changes to our public opening hours. Consular assistance will continue to be available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by calling us on 808 20 35 37 or +351 21 395 4082.

From 23 June 2014, our public opening hours for appointments and personal callers, in both Lisbon and Portimão, will be 09h30 to 14h00 on Monday, Wednesday and Friday (currently Monday to Friday, 9:30am to 2pm).

Sweet tea

Artist Jan Johnson with one of her ‘Vintage tea cup’ collection paintingsSpecially commissioned and on display at Galeria Côrte-Real in Paderne, a new series of paintings by Jan Johnson feature individual, vintage tea cups.

Perfectly executed, the delicate design of each tea cup has been devised by Jan creating a feeling of nostalgia and refinement. Her distinctive style of painting has been much admired in the UK, France and Portugal and the new exhibition is well suited to the quaint surroundings of the gallery, located in an authentic ‘quinta’ in the Algarve countryside.

Monchique Wildfire Prevention and Environmental Protection Seminar - May 30

Fire Prevention SeminarThe critical wildfire period is fast approaching. To safeguard public safety it is important that we are all aware of fire prevention at this time of the year. This is particularly the case in Monchique where the fire risk has already reached “extreme” on a number of occasions recently.

In order that residents have all the information needed Safe Communities Algarve and the GNR Portimão is holding, together with the participation of the ANPC (Civil Protection Agency) a display and seminar where people can speak to the experts involved and view some of the emergency equipment. The seminar takes place Friday 30th May 2014 from 1600 to 1800 hrs, Junta de Freguesia de Monchique.
